Taste of Interfaith Celebrates Church Leaders for Positive Community Change

CENLA Community leaders united to nourish body and soul on Thursday, August 17 at The Taste of Interfaith event at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

The night was a recommitment to the organization's mission of "[building] relational power in order to take action on issues that affect the common good of our communities."

Nell Person, Leader from New Hope Missionary Baptist Church reflects, "There is strength in numbers. My power grows when I’m in a relations hip with others. Surely, I can’t catch a multitude of fish by myself, someone else has to help me draw that net in"

The story of Cenla Interfaith, described by Imam Mounir Bourkiza of the Islamic Society of Central Louisiana, is like a "living locomotive train...driven by the boundless energy of Relational Power."
The event was one of celebration, highlighting the achievements borne from the development of Relational Power. As Richard Horton of St. Matthews Baptist Church noted, "The train has also embraced "Energy Efficiency" as a critical issue...The Central Louisiana Community Action Agency and the Greater Alexandria Revitalization Corporation joined forces with Interfaith to address high utility burdens by focusing on weatherization and appliance updates, in addition to utility bill relief."
Every endeavor undertaken is rooted in the cultivation of collaborative power. Rev. Clifford Person, Pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church lights the way ahead, "Their spark has kindled an adult literacy program at New Hope and plans to expand across neighborhoods and institutions in the coming year. The wheels of change were set in motion, and the train steadily picks up speed."

As they continue their mission, the focus shifts to strengthening their organization from within, with a house meeting campaign set to kick off in Fall of 2023.
Central Louisiana Interfaith extends a warm invitation to the public, urging all to join hands and contribute to the community's advancement. 🤗 Your involvement could be the fuel that propels Central Louisiana to even greater heights! 🌆🙌
